I recently read an article in LifeNews about former pro-abortion director who is launching a project to train 2 million abortion activists. A project like this is heartbreaking. This is a project with the sole purpose of raising up leaders to spread the message of death. This project is a focused effort on raising an army of false prophets in order to advance the culture of death in our country. The plan for multiplying abortion activism is in response to the gospel plan of spreading the good news of Jesus, love and life. The enemy is always trying to twist and copy the Kingdom Principles of the Bible.
As I was reading this, I remembered two men we caught up with as we walked through Paris on mine and Sheila’s 30th wedding anniversary. When we strolled up behind these guys I thought about the power of walking with a mentor. Wise counsel is such an honor. So I took a photo to remember the thought. Later in the evening I discovered the title of the book carried by this gentleman translates to: “The Real Life”. I am not sure of the content of the book, but I love the title. Sheila and I have lived out our faith-walk seeking “real life” answers from pastors, mentors, and wise counsel so we could live “the real life”. Honestly, it is impossible to assign a value to wise counsel. Repeatedly in mine and Sheila’s life we have sought wise counsel for decisions we have made. My parents, our pastor, friends from small groups, and decades long friendships have been our source for those decisions. These conclusions and these wise counsel moments have had the greatest impact on our lives and the ministry God has assigned to us. Wise counsel opens us to ideas we may have not considered. Wise counsel also stops us from going down paths of destruction. Proverbs 11:14 says, “Where there is no counsel, the people fall; But in the multitude of counselors there is safety.” The Bible also says bad company corrupts good morals. (1 Corinthians 15)
God clearly tells us we should seek counsel in order to stay away from chaos, confusion, and calamity in our lives. We should also be involved in giving wise counsel. SaveOne and other advocates for life have been raising an army of truth tellers for years. We have a plan to reach the abortion minded, the hurting, and those devastated by the aftermath of abortion. This plan for preserving life simply needs more life advocates. We need the people who value life to combat the private funding, government funding, and the 2,000,000 person focus of pro-abortion leaders. We need the funds to help reach those who are considering abortion, and we need funds to reach those who have been devastated by the aftermath of abortion.
