The power of the words we speak should never be underestimated. In fact the Bible tells us in proverbs 18:21 the power of our words have spiritual implications at the highest level. Proverbs 18:21a NKJV Death and life are in the power of the tongue. What we say has the potential to kill, steal, and destroy. What we say also has the potential to release abundant life. So the question is simple… are we releasing the words of the enemy when we speak, or are we releasing the words of our Savior when we speak.
God has trusted us with His love, His grace, His mercy, His hope, His healing and most amazingly He has trusted us with His people. He has this beautiful way of allowing those who serve Him to serve others by speaking His words. These words can be His declaration of love, a call to repentance, a warning, an encouragement, hope, and an answer to any problem we encounter.
God’s intention for us is found in 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. His mandate to us is find others we can comfort with the comfort we were comforted with! Search for those in the same mess you were saved from and walk with them until the ashes of their brokenness have become beauty. Comfort for others can be found in the Word of God. Our challenge from our Lord is to go to those who are hurting and speak what He has spoken and pray what He has prayed.
